03.12.20 Starting from Seed

Planting from seed has never been my strength but it is has long been my secret desire. So, I jumped at the chance to take a seed starting workshop from a pro, Brijette Pena, founder of the San Diego Seed Company. You should see me now. I actually know what I’m doing and my seedlings are gorgeous! I won’t give away all of her secrets here because I hope you will attend one of her upcoming workshops. What I will say is that she emphasizes setting up a system that gives you maximum control to grow the strongest seedlings before transplanting them outside.

This is what I’m growing:

Genovese basil, cilantro, thyme, bok choy, butterfly spinach, sugar pea, cherry radish, beets, bush beans, Florence fennel, broccoli, eggplant, watermelon radish, rainbow bell pepper, cucumber, nantes carrots, colorful beets, bunching onions, yellow crook neck squash, Italian arugula, green curls kale, red Russian kale, pickling cucumber and Sequoia strawberries.
